Simple and straightforward – I believe in offering clients a rate structure that’s easy to understand. This allows you to plan for the long-term, budget properly for your content and know exactly what you’re getting.

The best way to know what the cost of your project will be is to send me any materials you may have (source texts, project briefs, deadlines, etc.) and I’ll send you a free, non-binding estimate. 

I calculate my translation rates per word, which is typical for the American market. This rates structure makes it easy for clients to calculate the rough cost of a translation.

The basic translation rate is calculated in addition to the legal sales tax known as VAT – this applies to invoices with addresses within the EU and without have a valid VAT ID.

RETAINER

25% of project total

Projects with a value of 1,000 € or more may be subject
to a 25% retainer fee. Translation work cannot begin
until the retainer fee has been received.

CHANGES TO SOURCE TEXT

20% surcharge

Applicable only if the client needs to make significant
changes to the source text after translation work has
started.

I’m committed to providing a comprehensive translation service. My basic English translation rate includes the translation itself, a single round of proofreading and feedback and delivery in the agreed format.

Translations must be provided in a format that can be edited (Microsoft Office, Pages, text file, etc.). Time spent copying and pasting texts from formats that cannot be edited will be factored into the cost of the translation.

My copywriting services are calculated at an hourly or daily rate and in some cases, I may be willing to negotiate a flat rate for an entire project. Since I have plenty of experience estimating turnaround times, you can count of a consistent price.

For other services, such as proofreading, transcription, native checks, translation checks and others, I calculate at an hourly or daily rate. The time estimates for these services are based on the type of content and previous experience.
